Thank you for your interest in the public access training class offered free to qualified persons by
Onion River Community Access Media. By participating in Public Access, you will be able to produce programming for Channel 15.

The training program and use of equipment and facilities are available to (a) those persons who reside within our service area, or (b) those persons who will be producing programming for groups or organizations located within our service area. Those who believe they qualify under '(b)', must submit a letter from the group or organization they claim to be connected with. The letter should accompany the application for the class and confirm that the applicant will be producing programming for the organizations.

Classes are usually held in the evening. The courses consist of up to three weekly sessions. Classes last from 1-3 hours and start promptly on time. In order to be able to operate our equipment, a person must satisfactorily complete the basic course. Attendance at all classes is required. If students desire to actually use portable video equipment outside of the production studio, then they must satisfactorily complete an independent project within a time span of 6 weeks of the final class.

People who can demonstrate proficiency in video production maybe able to forgo the basic class. Please contact us if you have prior experience.

Persons taking the basic course will learn about public access, some basic production planning skills and have lots of hand-on training using our professional quality digital video production equipment. The basic class is indeed basic, therefore students who plan to become proficient in television production should continue the learning process past the basic class. There are opportunities to do this by producing independent projects or working with an experienced group or producer already involved int he access process.
